Kanye West, Selena Gomez Star in 30 Seconds to Mars' "City of Angels" Video
30 Seconds to Mars' frontman Jared Leto recently told Fuse that their new single "City of Angels" is "the most personal song" he's written. Now, the latest release from the band's new Love Lust Faith + Dreams LP has an 11-minute music video, centered around interviews with a select group of stars as well as up-and-coming artists in Los Angeles (aka "the city of dreams").
Kanye West, Selena Gomez, James Franco, Lindsay Lohan, Shaun White, Ashley Olsen, Olivia Wilde and more speak candidly about working toward their dreams in L.A. Some love the success they've found (Kanye shouts, "Fame is f-cking awesome!"), others push it away ("Fame is an illusion," admits the Olsen twin), and many are still chasing it, like the street performers still vying for superstardom interviewed in this short film.
The video also captures visceral moments from Gomez, who admits, "I'm a Disney kid, people try to tell me what to do every day." She also candidly says, "People think I'm a goodie-goodie [and] boring, but then say I'm a fame whore, that I use people."
Kanye also spoke bluntly about his complicated relationship with L.A. "This city took my mother, but this city also gave me my child...the city of angels is my paradox, my nightmares and my dreams," he explained.
