Snoop Lion's "Get Away" Video Is a Treat for Old-School Pokemon Fans
In the past decade, Snoop Dogg has revealed himself as a certifiable gamer. He lent his voice to 2003's True Crime: Streets of LA and 2008's Grand Theft Auto IV, hosted the Spike Video Game Awards in '04 and even released his own mobile game last year. His love is further demonstrated through the awesomely-nerdy video for Reincarnated track "Get Away" as an homage to the late '90s Pokemon games.
Nostalgia will flow for fans of the classic Game Boy release (flashback!) as they watch an 8-bit version of Snoop Lion stroll through a meticulously reconstructed world reminiscent of the original game. He even battles a trainer, Major Lazer—who co-produced the track—with their own fake Pokemon.
For '90s children who wasted too many hours playing Pokemon, go back in time for the next four minutes and continue the nostalgia with these 10 old-school Snoop Dogg photos. And in case you missed the big news over the weekend, Diplo announced a new Major Lazer EP featuring Pharrell, Sean Paul and a slew of exciting guests is coming next month. Get the deets right here.
