Fuse Sits Down With Austin Rockers Ume for a BBQ&A at SXSW 2014

When Fuse hit the music Mecca of Austin, TX, for SXSW 2014, we also sampled the city's other specialty: Incredible BBQ. In fact, we combined the two with a special BBQ&A with two-thirds of Austin's Ume.

The rock trio tells Fuse about their just-dropped, Kickstarter-funded album Monuments, produced by Adam Kasper (Nirvana, Queens of the Stone AgeCat PowerFoo Fighters). "Our fans backed this record and helped us hit our goal in less than 24 hours," singer-guitarist Lauren Larson says. "The goal was get the passion and intensity that people gravitate toward live on the record. And I think we did."

As for SXSW 2014, Ume were honored to open for Blondie a few nights earlier. "That was a dream come true—she's one of the godmothers of punk," Larson says.
