Ahead of her debut full-length LP dropping next month, Jhené Aiko has already racked up hit collabos with Drake, Big Sean, Lil Wayne and Childish Gambino. Before her Coachella 2014 set—that brought out Drizzy and Gambino as surprise guests—she talks to Fuse about being hip hop's new It Girl.
"I think that rappers relate to me because I'm a lyricist," she tells Fuse's Esteban Serrano at the Fuse VEVO House. "I write everything. For me, the most important thing about a song is the words. I really take my time with the words and the lyrics. I feel like rappers appreciate and respect that."
But the 26-year-old stunner says we should anticipate her work outside the rap realm soon. "I'm going to be collaborating with more just rappers," she adds. "Just showing the different sides of me. I have dream collaborations like John Mayer, Erykah Badu and James Blake is someone I really want to collaborate with. Nothing confirmed, but definitely wishing for those."
