Big Freedia is on top of the world. With her wildly successful Fuse television program, Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce, and her growing cult following, she's sitting pretty. We caught up with the bounce goddess at New York City's Pride Parade.
When asked about Just Be Free, her debut full-length, she said, "The album has been doing really good. It was No. 2 on Billboard which was really exciting. I’m amazed that people are liking the album and I’m excited to see where it’s going to go and what it’s going to do."
Fans of Freedia outside of her native New Orleans can rest easy: tour dates are on their way. "We’re getting ready to drop the Freedia fall tour. It’s going to be really amazing."
With all of this excitement, Freedia stays grounded. "My life has definitely changed. I can't walk anywhere without people stopping me, which is a very amazing feeling. First of all I’d like to thank God for all this success, my mom, my network, all of my staff, all of the people behind me. My dancers, my DJ, my lover, just everybody who is a part of my life. All of the people that help me on my journey. All of the fans, especially. They support me and they’ve been supporting me for a long time."
We love you, Freedia!
