The Bonnaroo standout tells Fuse why it wasn't such a big deal for him when he came out in a recent Fader magazine cover story, saying "It's always been about the music," and "I feel like people are listening to the music not worrying about the color of my face or the type of people I fancy."
On teaming up with R&B icon Mary J. Blige on a new version of his hit "Stay With Me," Smith says "It was an amazing experience!" and he couldn't believe it, as he still remembers listening to her music growing up in the UK.
Smith's highly-anticipated debut album In The Lonely Hour doesn't drop here in the U.S. until next week (Tuesday, June 17), but hit No. 1 upon release in the UK last month. Reacting to the accomplishment, Smith says "I'm just happy loads of people have bought the record!"
