Real-life couple Alex & Sierra enamored The X Factor audience with their weekly heartfelt duets, helping the duo win Season 3 and score multiple No. 1s on the iTunes Singles chart. Jason Mraz also showed the pair love when he invited them for a recording session ... and a surfing lesson.
"Back in February, he invited to come down to his house for like two days," begins Alex Kinsey. "We went to breakfast with a mutual friend and we thought we were going to go to breakfast then go to his house and get introduced. But he showed up to breakfast and he had just come in from surfing. I brought my wetsuit because I know he liked surfing and I said, 'Yeah man, I brought my wet suit in case you want to go' and he's like, 'Let's go right now!' We went out surfing with him, it was the craziest thing ever. He's such a cool guy. Super nice, super cool and giving.
"We wrote a song and recorded a demo in his studio, he produced it. It was such a magical couple of days."
Adds Sierra Deaton of the "I Won't Give Up" singer, "I think it was encouraging for us to work with him, not only as artists but as people too. You hear stuff about the music industry [that] it'll make you jaded, it'll change you and and he's really successful and he's just a really nice guy. It was really inspiring for us."
