Last month, Austin Mahone kicked off his summer tour with Fifth Harmony, "Life of the Party" singer Shawn Mendes and rising British band The Vamps. While touring life is infamously tough, the 18-year-old says life is pretty sweet.
"It's more relaxed than people would expect," the "All I Ever Need" singer says. "I wake up around 12:00 or 1:00 p.m., get a great night's sleep. I get up, get dressed, take a shower, do a meet-and-greet, meet my fans and then I do a soundcheck. Take pictures, warm up my voice and go to hit the stage and that's it. That's a day." We're jealous.
Mahone adds that he's gotten particularly close with the "BO$$" ladies of 5H. "They're crazy," he adds with a laugh. "I enjoy hanging out with Fifth Harmony. We'll go see a movie on an off day. Or we'll just play basketball together or ping pong, just chill. They're talented ... and they're beautiful."
While Austin acts as headliner, the singer also notes the importance of his opening acts' sizable fanbases. "Most of the fans out there are Mahomies, but then there's a lot of fans of Fifth Harmony, Shawn Mendes and whatnot," he says. "That's important too because even though it's my show, I want to be able to reach out to all the other fanbases and bring them into mine."
