J-Pop Superstar Crystal Kay Celebrates Love in "Dum Ditty Dumb"
You might be unfamiliar with Crystal Kay, but that's all about to change. The Japanese popstar isn't new to the game: getting her start at age thirteen, she's been a singer, songwriter, radio host and actress, recording ten full-length albums before the age of 27. Impressive, to say the least!
Her latest endeavor is "Dum Ditty Dumb," a bilingual track that has Kay experimenting with a variety of genres. The result is a completely bizarre and totally catchy pop anthem, and we've got no complaints here.
The single exists somewhere within a mega pop hit, EDM staple and soulful R&B smash. When the song slows, Kay slows, easing and contorting her body to reflect the track. There are colorfully reversed dance moves, otherworldly animations and fluid hand gestures. Partnered with a addictive chorus of "Gimme gimme gimme good love / I want ya / I need ya / The good stuff / Gotta have it baby," Kay is on her way to conquering an American audience. We're ready for it.
