August Alsina is R&B's latest up-and-comer, rocking a voice that is undeniably similar to Chris Brown's. In early 2013 his "I Luv This Sh-t" collaboration with Trinidad James peaked at No. 48 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 13 Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. In September of that year Brown and Trey Songz recorded the track's official remix. Fast forward a few more months and Alsina is invited to bring his talents to DJ Khaled's "Hold You Down," featuring the likes of Future and Jeremih. Not too shabby!
Alsina latest single, "No Love," has him crooning alongside vocal virtuoso Nicki Minaj in a tale about love gone awry. The video plays on these themes, tracking the trials and tribulations inherent in messy open relationships.
The clip follows a pretty standard narrative. August and Nicki are in a serious relationship, with Minaj getting the short end of the stick. Their scenes are sluggish and unsettling, spaced between images of Alsina with other women. He clearly doesn't see their relationship as exclusive.
He goes to the club and hits on other women all while Nicki stays home. Eventually he realizes he's in the wrong, Minaj is the one for him and sends her roses. How does it end? Watch above and find out!
