Due to the domestic violence controversy surrounding Ray Rice, the network felt that it wasn't appropriate to air the original planned intro featuring Rihanna's "Run This Town" and a comedy skit.
"We thought journalistically and from a tone standpoint, we needed to have the appropriate tone and coverage," CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus explained. "A lot of the production elements we wanted in the show are being eliminated because of time or tone."
The network also factored in Rihanna's 2009 domestic violence case with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.
