2014's been good to Tameka "Tiny" Harris so far: back in July, the former Xscape singer released "What You Gon' Do," her first single in years, and the slow-grooving track is one she loves for its easily relatable lyrics.
"It's connecting with women because it's relatable in all relationships," Tiny told Fuse. "If you've ever been in a relationship, you know, you've been through ups and downs. There's a point when it's down where you feel like, 'What's up, what are you going to do?' I felt like it was relatable for all women, not just me."
Her team—and presumably her husband, T.I.—were all for Tiny heading back onto the charts, especially with this particular track.
"I recorded the song a year ago, and my people, my team, they got a hold of the song, and they were just like, 'Yo, this song is everything right now. It's speaking from your mind, speaking from your heart. It's saying what you want to say.' And I was like, 'We're putting this song out.'"
As for OMG Girlz, the girl group Tiny brought under her wing in 2009, new music is on the way. "Boy It's Over" is one of her favorite tracks of the group's to date, and a sign of greater things to come for her proteges. "It was never released, so I felt like it would be perfect for the girls to re-do," she says of "Boy It's Over." "It wasn't over-saturated, overdone...I mean, hey. It's one of my favorites. The girls' vocals are really at their best. Their album is going to be really good."
