Taylor Swift is finally speaking out about what everyone's always going on about: Her man-centric lyricism. Many media outlets consistently mention that Swift is quick to write songs about her ex-boyfriends, but now she's saying that she finds it sexist.
In a recent interview, T-Swift noted that no one "raises a red flag" when artists like Ed Sheeran or Bruno Mars write about their exes. She continues: "They use you writing songs about your life as a way to play detective, and for me, I have a really strict personal policy that I never name names, so anyone saying that a song is about a specific person is purely speculating."
Swift raises a valid point–love songs, whether they're about current lovers or old flames, are as synonymous with rock'n'roll and pop music as four-chord melodies. Whether it's sexist or not that Taylor is called out for writing about her exes repeatedly is up for you to debate–let us know what you think in the comments!
