Two weeks ago Taylor Swift dropped 1989, her first official pop record. In seven days the full-length sold over 1.2 million copies, earning the title of highest grossing album of the year. It also made Swift the first artist to snag three albums that sold over a million in their first week. With her massive hits "Shake It Off," "Out of the Woods" and "Welcome to New York," the newfound pop princess truly is everywhere!
Late last night Yahoo accidentally leaked the video for her latest track, "Blank Space." The video director, Joseph Kahn, tweeted about the mistake, writing "Yup. Yahoo effed up. Wait to see the Blank Space video. Let Taylor introduce it herself. It'll be worth it :)" That didn't stop the internet from locating and sharing the clip, and Taylor quickly followed suit.
The music video plays on Taylor's affinity for the dramatic. In this alternative universe she lives in a mansion with some too-handsome-for-words boy toy. They dine together, they go horseback riding together, they cycle in the living room, they carve their names in trees. It's the ultimate romantic paradise until Swift learns her gentlemen friend has been less than faithful. Not one to stand down, she finds her revenge in violence: She destroys his vintage sports car, she uses an apple (Hello Snow White?) as a voodoo doll, she stabs his portrait. In the end, he drives off, leaving Taylor happy. And alone.
