Fishbone frontman Angelo Moore sums up Voodoo Music Fest in just a few words: "It's wild, it's loud, it's full of voodoo... and full of I love you!" Yup, that's Voodoo in a nutshell.
We were lucky to have two founding members of the legendary Los Angeles alternative/ska band stop by and chop it up with Fuse's Yasmine Richard at the New Orleans festival. If you're a rock fan and don't know Fishbone, do your homework ASAP. The band had a hand in the evolution of bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jane's Addiction. Or as bassist John Norwood Fisher explains, "We got buck naked with the Chili Peppers! We got buck naked with Jane's Addiction! It was a buck naked '80s!"
Reflecting on their influence on those bands, Fishbone explain why inspiring and supporting new artists is so crucial. "It's so important to support other artists because if it wasn't for music and the arts, we wouldn't have no flavor!" Moore says. "Life would have no flavor. It would be bland!"
But don't for one second think Fishbone is done creating their own art. In April this year, the group dropped their new 5-song EP Intrinsically Intertwined. The band tells us they're planning a 5-episode web series based on the EP, which should be out in 2015.
