'Insurgent' Star Mekhi Phifer Loves Memes and Eminem's "Rap God"

What's it like to be so popular that people tweet memes at you all the time? For Insurgent star Mekhi Phifer, it's all gravy. Phifer is a guest on tomorrow night's brand-new episode of Top 20 Countdown–watch a portion of his appearance on the show above!

"It's fun and flattering, in certain ways, that you've impacted people to where they even make a meme out of you," Phifer tells Fuse host Esteban Serrano. "Any time I see them, I retweet them or re-Instagram them or like them or whatever, because they always make me laugh."

The actor looks through a few new memes with Esteban, and the last one features a reference to the lyric where Eminem name-dropped him on "Lose Yourself." Phifer went in detail about the lyric on his last Top 20 Countdown appearance, and actually says that a newer Eminem single is dominating his current playlists.

"My favorite song is Eminem's "Rap God." That joint is just incredible," Phifer explains. "It's six-and-a-half minutes of him just crushing the whole game. It's so different from what I hear if I listen to the radio."

Phifer plays the character of Max, the leader of the Dauntless faction, on Insurgent. The film, which is the sequel to 2014's Divergent, premiered on Friday.

Watch the full clip above to see what Phifer thinks about the depth of his character, and whether he's playing a straight-up bad guy or if there's more than meets the eye. Be sure to catch Phifer's full appearance on Top 20 Countdown tomorrow night, March 24, at 6/5c! Find Fuse in your area.
