Grunge fans everywhere are spinning over the upcoming release of Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, a new Nirvana documentary. What new information will we learn about Kurt Cobain? Will this be yet another glimpse into the life of a troubled genius?
Ahead of its premier, Rolling Stone shared a clip of the upcoming HBO doc that features a snippet of a previously unreleased tune along with an interview with Cobain's daughter, Frances Bean Cobain. The film's director, Brett Morgen, says that the song was discovered in the late singer's storage facility in 2013.
The song appears to be nameless and is as lo-fi as it gets: Kurt's vocals are almost completely incomprehensible as he mutters through the downtrodden acoustic track. If this is anything, it's haunting; the true sound of sadness.
Montage of Heck will be shown in select theaters on April 24, ahead of its May 4 airing on HBO.
