Karen O Pens Google Doodle Track in Honor of Nellie Bly
Today marks the 151st anniversary of Nellie Bly's birth. Unsure who that is? Google is here to educate.
Back in the day female journalists used nom de plumes to conceal their gender in order to be taken seriously. (Thank god for feminism, the world sucks, etc.) Our friend Nellie Bly was born Elizabeth Jane Cochran and would go on to break records with her investigative work. In the late 1800s, Bly/Cochran went undercover in an insane asylum and traveled the world in 72 days...an astonishing feat at that time. And now the Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O has teamed up with Google Doodle to pen a song honoring her legacy.
