MorrisseyOKE: A New Generation of Latinos Sing Their Lives with Moz
Morrissey once encouraged us to sing our lives, and if the crowd on a recent night at a bar in Los Angeles is any indication, some of us listened. The scene was set at Eastside Luv, a wine bar in Boyle Heights, a predominantly Mexican neighborhood east of downtown L.A. Once a month, the popular bar and live venue hosts MorrisseyOKE, an all-Morrissey (and The Smiths) karaoke night, and Fuse was there to soak in the festivities.
The monthly event was started by Alexis De La Rocha, a longtime member of the Church of Moz. "I fell in love with Morrissey because of the vulnerability that he allows himself to express," De La Rocha told us that night, right before Eastside Luv opened its doors.
