Pixar was on a monster (pun intended; Sully forever) stretch from 2006 to 2013, a seven-film run that was perfect (see: Ratatouille, WALL-E, Toy Story 3, Brave) except for those two Cars movies. (Sorry, your son's beloved lunchbox and your daughter's weathered backpack don't make 'em good movies.) Then they took a two-year break.
2015 going to be the legendary studio's big return, though, 20 years after cannonballing onto the scene with Toy Story. First they've got Inside Out (trailer below), directed by Pete Docter (Up, Monsters, Inc.) and starring the voices of Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Mindy Kaling and plenty more. It's about the emotions in a little girl's head, if the emotions were sentient, adorable beings called Joy, Sadness, Disgust, etc.
Then The Good Dinosaur will stomp in on November 25 and make it Pixar's first two-movie year. (2017 is expected to follow suit with Toy Story 4 and another TBD film.) The first trailer is here, above, guaranteeing that another wonderful concept is about to transform into another stunningly animated tale that'll tickle kids and adults alike. The prehistoric setting was recently done well with Dreamworks Animation's The Croods, so it'll be cool seeing Pixar's take. The official plot description says it's about a young Apatosaurus called Arlo making a human friend. Historical quibbles aside, we're down.
The Good Dinosaur should also be the best possible fodder for comparison-happy internet-folks (...like us), with its premiere coming just five months after Jurassic World, the 14-years-later follow-up to Jurassic Park III
Anyway. While we're worshipping in the Pixar Chapel, here's that Inside Out trailer. It's coming June 19.
