Bebe Rexha Admits She Was "Super Worried" to Join Warped Tour
Since her days performing with Black Cards and penning hits for stars like Rihanna, Bebe Rexha has carved a name for herself in the pop world. She nabbed a Billboard Hot 100 single as featured artist on David Guetta's "Hey Mama" and dropped her debut solo EP earlier this year. Now, the 25-year-old Brooklyn native has taken her talents around the country via two very different tours.
"I was super worried when I started doing Warped Tour because it's like all these punk rock kids, and here I come, this pop chick...I think when people see me live, they're actually pleasantly surprised because I kind of 'rockify' all the songs, and it's not just this corny pop thing," she said. "I have an actual band, and we actually rock out on stage. I think that's what makes sense with Warped Tour. It's real music."
Now that Warped has wrapped up, Rexha is focusing on her next big show—with Nick Jonas, who kicks off his "Live in Concert" fall tour on September 6 in Hershey, PA. The two first met at Z100's Jingle Ball, where Rexha was surprised to learn that Jonas was a big fan of her music. And before she knew it, she was on his tour.
"Usually, record labels will stick with their own artists, or a management team will put their own artist in there. But [Nick] came to me and my team personally and asked for me to be on the tour, which is the coolest way for it to be done."
