Watch John Travolta Play the Weeknd's Driver in New Apple Music Ad
Turns out Drake's not the only one in the OVO squad chilling in Apple's offices with DJ Zaney Zane Lowe. Abel Tesfaye, the one and only Weeknd, is also publicly stepping out as an ambassador for the streaming service Apple Music, this time in two new commercials that debuted during the 2015 MTV VMAs.
Watch the first one, featuring the one and only star of Saturday Night Fever and Grease, above.
The ad opens with the Weeknd walking offstage after a performance—like the one he tore up the VMAs stage with—to the strains of Future's Drake-featuring "Where Ya At." Once
Elvis Abel has left the building, there's a flaming car (fire's all over the Weeknd's visuals lately) next to his idling vehicle. He hops in, smiles at the fact that Beats 1 is playing "Can't Feel My Face," and notices he's got a celebrity driver.
"Hey man, I'm drivin', but where we goin'?" John Travolta asks. Abel wonders if he's tripping. "Ya okay?" the erstwhile Vincent Vega asks. And then they're heading to an afterparty, with a big fat To Be Continued... closing the clip.
Fortunately we've also got part two, a timelapsing afterparty set to another Beauty Behind the Madness single, "The Hills." Then the Weeknd starts exercising the Spotify-like abilities of Apple Music, throwing on some Fetty Wap, Future's "Fuck Up Some Commas" and more.
Then the party's over and there's a four-legged beast in the room and the reminder that with Apple Music, "It's all in your head — create your own party."
