Fuse caught up with pop duo MS MR on-site at Lollapalooza 2015 and chatted with the New York-based pair about what it's like returning to the festival with a new album, more experience, and more confidence. Check out the video interview in the player above.
"Now that we're headlining and have our own show together and a bit more crew, you can really sort of set the vibe and create a world and environment for your audience to come into," producer Max Hershenow explained. "It's exciting to have that much control over every element of the show."
Vocalist Lizzy Plapinger added that returning to Lolla with a new album and sound has made the experience that much more exciting. Describing sophomore LP How Does It Feel as a dance record unlike standard EDM/house albums, she hopes fans experience the range of motion reflected on the record.
While MS MR's debut album Secondhand Rapture dealt more with angst and self-doubt, How Does It Feel "uses the darkness within you as a way to find a way forward" and sets a tone of empowerment.
"I think we really came up with the album that we dreamed of making and the album that, when we first started the band, we sort of imagined making," Hershenow said. "It's the pop songs that we didn't have the skills on the first record to fully realize and now do."
