Welcome to Good Burger, home of the '90s, can I take your order (for a Kenan Thompson/Kel Mitchell reunion)? Through the always powerful magic of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, yeah, consider the order placed.
On Wednesday night, Kel—who's been sadly missing from the spotlight for years—showed up to reenact the All That sketch turned 1997 film. Perfectly. Essentially. And beautifully, because his former Kenan & Kel partner in crime, who's found success as a mainstay at Saturday Night Live since 2003, showed up for the reunion we've been waiting for since we were children.
The 37-year-old Kenan wasn't there as his cashier self, but rather to reprise the character of Lester Oaks, hungry construction worker. Kel, also 37, was as ridiculously dimwitted and Amelia Bedelia-ishly literal as ever, with an order for a spicy chicken rap yielding a rap verse about spicy chicken ("What the cluck / What, what the cluck"). Jimmy Fallon participated as Kel's equally silly coworker. The Roots' Black Thought showed up, Tonight Show sidekick Steve Higgins got blasted with mustard and it ended in a dance party to the tune of the pre-stoner classic "We're All Dudes."
The '90s have been lava-hot this year—Kel has returned to Nickeloden with Game Shakers, a Nicktoons posse movie is in the works, Alfonso Ribeiro's hosting America's Funniest Home Videos, Big Sean did a Martin-themed music video, Jaden and Willow Smith are showing love for The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. But nothing has been on par with a Good Burger reunion. Nothing. Fingers crossed this gives us some future non-late night work from Kenan and Kel.
