With her first new solo song since 2013, Lady Gaga is taking on an important cause: combating sexual assault on college campuses.
In "Til It Happens to You," Gaga offers a somber vocal over delicate strings before emerging with a full band of guitars, piano and drums behind her.
"Til it happens to you / You don't know how it feels," Gaga croons as clips of an attempted sexual assault are projected in the visual, messages like "I love myself" and "I am worthy" written in marker on the video stars' skin.
"One in five college women will be sexually assaulted this year unless something changes," reads a message toward video's end, before dispensing the number for the National Sexual Assault Hotline (1-800-656-HOPE).
The song was recorded for The Hunting Ground, a documentary released earlier this year that shines a spotlight on sexual assaults on campus. The song was co-written by Gaga and Diane Warren, while the video was directed by Catherine Hardwicke, who helmed the Twilight movies.
