Update (10/5): It's time, ladies and germs. The video for Sam Smith's James Bond theme song, "Writing's on the Wall," is viewable in full. As previously detected, the GRAMMY-winner looks 007-ishly sharp in his classic black suit and tie. Daniel Craig, who's doing his fourth Bond film with Spectre, is also in the Luke Monaghan–directed video, alongside several Bond co-stars.
Original story (9/30: Sam Smith's theme song for the new James Bond film, Spectre, dropped last week. It's gigantic and cinematic; it fits right into the canon of classic Bond opening credits jams, and it nestles right up to the five new classics we've received this millennium.
Plus, it's getting a music video soon. "Writing's on the Wall" will have a full-length visual soon, but for today we've got a 16-second teaser we wish was more like 90 seconds. (That would still only be 32 percent of the full vid!)
The clip's got Sam Smith stepping into a whitish-gray temple-like space with five coffins (we think?) draped in the Union Jack. Because 007's a British agent and his comrades are always dying, and because Spectre will be no different in that department. Also, he's looking dapper as hell, like a guy who could give it with Bond and introduce himself as "Smith; Sam Smith."
The "Writing's on the Wall" video will be directed by Luke Monaghan, who has worked previously with Smith as well as A$AP Rocky and Disclosure multiple times. Meanwhile, here's a booth with an ad for the song:
