When you're David Bowie, you need to do exactly nothing to get people hyped for your new music.... especially when you just came back in March 2013 after a decade-long absence.
But when you're David Bowie, you gotta go for the #ART. You always do. So here's the trailer for Blackstar, a short film that will precede Grandfather Stardust's January 8 album—his 25th studio release, the title of which is an actual black star, dropping on his birthday.
The clip looks glossily mysterious, bizarro and scarecrow-filled. And the Thin White Duke, at age 68, looks as magnetic as he did on the cover of Low back in '77.
The song, per the Times (English version, innit), will contain “Gregorian chants, a soul section, various electronic beats and bleeps and Bowie’s distinctive vocals.” Flawless, guaranteed.
The full Blackstar short film, directed by Johan Renck, will premiere November 19 on Palladia as well as at Nitehawk Cinema in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Grab tickets! It's David fkin' Bowie! And it's free!
