David Bowie was eulogized by Annie Lennox and Gary Oldman at the BRIT Awards 2016, and just when we thought we might not actually get any music, the late superstar's band appeared—as did Lorde.

An instrumental intro featured "Space Oddity," "Ziggy Stardust," "Let's Dance," "Rebel Rebel," "Fame" and "Under Pressure" as vivid Bowie clips played onscreen. Lorde came out to expertly and emotionally sing "Life on Mars?"

Lorde once recalled Bowie telling her that "listening to you felt like listening to tomorrow," a factoid Gary Oldman noted in his speech. He also shared a wonderful little memory of Bowie finding out he had cancer and emailing, "The good news is I’ve got my cheekbones back."
