Kamasi Washington: Rise to Fame Was Like 'Climbing a Mountain in the Dark'

Fuse's new concert special Live Alive: Hiatus Kaiyote (on the Fuse TV app in full right now) included a roundtable with some of the most innovative names in jazz, hip-hop and R&B today.

Besides Hiatus Kaiyote, the intimate discussion included moderator Anthony Valadez, musician and GRAMMY-winning producer Terrace Martin, jazz pianist and GRAMMY-winning producer Robert Glasper, and critically acclaimed saxophonist, composer and bandleader Kamasi Washington.

In an excerpt from the roundtable, Washington says that although his work is getting more and more attention recently, he's been working hard, making music and performing, purely for the love of it, nearly his entire life.
