Jay Sean recently linked up with the reascendant Sean Paul for the song "Make My Love Go." Did they do it just 'cause Sean's part of both their names? C'mon, no. Jay works to only collaborate where it sounds exactly right, and that's what he did with his first single in three years. (He wouldn't be able to understand a Britney Spears/Fetty Wap collaboration, btw.)
Jay Sean explained his writing process:
"As a songwriter and as a co-producer on pretty much every song I've done, what I'm always conscious about is making it sound organic and not sound contrived. The one thing I don't wanna do is, 'Oh, trap is working right now, we got a ballad, but wait, let's put some trap hi-hats in there [laughs].' It doesn't work!"
