Steve Aoki’s Netflix documentary I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead chronicles the EDM star’s ascent and gives some fascinating background on his roots. In the interview above, Aoki tells Fuse he wasn’t expecting the doc to go so in-depth, but that he forced himself to open up on camera.
“When they backtracked, then I had to talk about what kind of relationship I had with my father, my mother, my siblings—and I didn’t expect to do that,” he says. Aoki also says that the highest praise he has received for the doc is when fans tell him they can personally relate to his stories.
