The year was 2006, and a rookie by the name of Rihanna had just broken out with the now-classic bangers "Pon de Replay" and "SOS."
Taking a break from her whirlwind summer, the Barbadian singer sat down with Fuse and talked what pre-fame life was like just one year prior to finding mainstream success.
"Just living a normal, simple life in Barbados—going to school, hanging out with friends, doing things that normal teenagers do. But now I'm getting to live the dream. I love it. I love change," she said.
Rih also revealed how she was first discovered and eventually picked up by Def Jam, which ultimately led her to Jay Z.
"I was literally shaking," she recalled. "Coming from living in Barbados and never meeting a celebrity to having to meet and audition for somebody like Jay Z...ah!"
