It's safe to say that eSports and professional gaming have taken the world by storm, and it's only getting bigger and better from here.
Speaking to Fuse at ESL One in New York, pro eSports and gaming broadcast host Paul "ReDeYe" Chaloner said, "I think we're barely beginning. Now, the money is starting to come in. Investments are starting to come in. It makes total sense that someone like Intel, Logitech...would invest in eSports."
But with growth come obstacles, and a significant hurdle for eSports is winning people over. "The major obstacle right now for eSports is the executive level who doesn't fully understand what it is...until we show them the numbers," explains ESL Senior Manager/Producer Joshua Gray.
And the numbers show that pro gaming definitely holds its own.
"It could be as big as the NFL one day. We're already right up there with many of the mid-to-high tier sports in the world," says Chaloner. "I would argue that we've already arrived."
