Russ Breaks Down the Real Relationship That Inspired 'Losin Control': Fuse First Interview

Some of the greatest songs come from artists' real-life experiences and Russ looks primed to soon be considered as the latest act added to that category with his rising hit "Losin Control." The singer-songwriter-producer is our new Fuse First and we got him to open up about how he turned harsh reflections on his first relationships into the smooth R&B-pop joint that's already scored more than 32 million streams on Spotify.

"Beneath the surface, 'Losin Control' was about trust issues and relationships," the 24-year-old says while breaking down the track. "Personally, it was about the first girl I dated. The first verse is what I did to her—I was the bad one. It was my first girl, I was immature emotionally, I wasn't ready to handle her feelings. The second verse is about what the universe handed me as my karma and the hook is basically saying, 'Look, this person's trying to fight these feelings of love for a good reason.'" Watch above.
