Explaining what fans can expect from the new sequel, Tyrese says "The United Nations and the National Geographic channel," alluding to Fast 8 taking place all around the globe, including snowy Iceland. "30-below zero is not really something I think is part of our DNA," he jokes.
The star reveals Fast 8 also brings the series back to its New York roots. "This all started as a Vibe magazine article 16 years ago," says Tyrese, referring to the underground street-racing scene that inspired the original film.
While the Fast and the Furious team pride themselves on diversity, Tyrese says it was a conversation with Vin Diesel's sister that revealed where they were lacking: Female stars. Enter Charlize Theron, who plays Fate of the Furious villain Cipher. "She is the most beautiful, vindictive, malicious, evil, motherfucker I've ever seen," Tyrese says, praising the actress' turn in the new movie.
