There must be something in the water in Compton, CA. The South Los Angeles city, is home to some of the biggest names in Hip-Hop and Rap such as King Kunta. The Game, NWA, Tyga, and YG. Upcoming rapper–Buddy–also calls "The Hub City" home. While it seems Compton rappers have that particular "Compton sound", Buddy utilizes his uniqueness in all of his music.
"I feel so away from all those conversations and opinions, to where I can do whatever I want, and make whatever kind of music I want," he says.
The 24-year-old rapper–who was previously signed to Pharrell's I Am OTHER label– sat down with Chicago Rap blogger, Andrew Barber, to also discuss his album "Harlan & Alondra", which features his family as the album cover.
"I just wanted to show them off to the world. I love them so much, they look beautiful" he says.
On the recent album, Buddy has a few features including OG rapper Snoop Dogg, 2018 Billboard Top New Artist, Khalid, and more. Buddy has no plans of stopping soon. He currently is on tour and will be making "a bunch of more songs."
