We're still a few weeks out from Metallica's Hardwired...To Self-Destruct, their first album in eight years, and any morsels are much-appreciated. So far we've heard/seen videos for “Hardwired” and “Moth Into Flame,” and a third song is heading our way on Halloween.
But if you want to hear it early—30 minutes early, to be strangely exact—you can just hit up a participating record store starting Friday, Oct. 28. There you'll have a shot at getting a free Hardwired...To Self-Destruct mask (perfect for trick-or-treating in your favorite metalhead living community) that comes with a code to hear "Atlas, Rise!"
Seeing as this is Metallica, the list of record stores is pretty beefy. We're not sure if the masks will look like the album art—a nightmare-rainbow of distorted faces that are clearly listening to Kill 'Em All—or the individual band member interpretations of the art (see the header on the band's official site), or neither. Maybe it's just a recreation of the Haunted Mask from Goosebumps.
