Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is pulling DC double-duty this year, as the entertainer will now receive his own spinoff movie playing villain Black Adam. The news comes after New Line Cinema and DC announced Johnson is set to co-star in Shazam as the superhero's arch-nemesis.
The actor had the Black Adam role secured since 2008, but The Hollywood Reporter points out the film execs wanted his character to play a bigger part as Johnson's celebrity continued to skyrocket. Shazam, also known as Captain Marvel (not to be confused with the actual Captain Marvel movie starring Brie Lawson), is a teen named Billy Batson who becomes a superhero when he says the magic word "Shazam!"
As of now, there is no director or writer attached to the project. But Johnson is a very busy man, as he's prepping for the April 14 release of The Fate of the Furious and the comedic Baywatch movie (out May 26).
