This year's San Diego Comic Con has provided a bevy of blockbuster movie trailers and star-studded panels, but one of the biggest announcements came Saturday when Brie Larson was announced officially as Captain Marvel.

According to The A.V. Club, Larson crashed the end of Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 section panel at Comic Con, confirming rumors that she was destined to play Carol Danvers, one of the most cherished roles in Marvel's cinematic universe.

The actress also celebrated the moment on Twitter, touting the Marvel brand with a tip of the hat:

Last year, Larson's performance in Room earned her an Oscar for Best Actress. She was reported to be "in talks" with Marvel about accepting the role back in early June. CNN reports that Captain Marvel is slated to appear in theaters in March 2019.
