Madonna Responds To Disappointed Fans After Short Paris Concert

French fans weren't exactly thrilled when Madonna got off the stage after only 45 minutes at a show at Paris' l'Olympia last week. But it's not her fault, according to Madonna's rep, Liz Rosenberg.

The concert, which was streamed on YouTube (and "disliked" over 12,000 times), was reportedly pegged as a club show, meaning it was never intended to go over 45 minutes (despite its $98 tickets). And, Rosenberg will have you know, the show actually cost Madonna quite a bit of her own money: "The show cost Madonna close to a million dollars to produce. She has done a handful of club dates in the past and they were never more than 45 minutes."

French fans booed the Material Girl (some even calling her a "slut") and demanding a refund after the disappointing gig, but Madge's rep assures us the show was meant as a "heartfelt thank you to France": "Despite a grueling concert tour, [Madonna] desperately wanted to perform for her fans in an intimate setting...as a means to honor her love for French artists, French cinema and a tribute to France’s long history of welcoming and inspiring artists, authors, painters, poets and minorities from other countries over the years."

Since she began her international MDNA tour earlier this year, Madonna's been criticized for the use of Nazi imagery, flashing her nipple and defying a gun ban by using prop pistols. Maybe it's time she heads back to the U.S.?

Let us know what you think about Madonna's apology for her 45-minute set in the comments.
