Harry Connick Jr. Nabs Third 'American Idol' Judge's Chair
Looks like American Idol has ironed out the last of its wrinkles for the upcoming 13th season of the Fox reality show.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Harry Connick Jr. will be taking the third judge's chair alongside Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez.
He quickly released a statement, however, explaining that he was forced to decline the position due to a conflict of interest with Universal Music Group.
But Connick Jr. should be able to fill the shoes previously reserved for Dr. Luke as the prolific jazz musician has previously appeared on AI multiple times as a mentor and performer.
Back in May the "It Had to Be You" singer hinted at a potential stint as a critic and even offered up some of his personal judging philosophy.
"I think you need to be completely honest and I think you need to be diplomatic," he said.
"I think there’s no reason to be mean, but it's called being a judge."
This past season of American Idol saw the worst finale ratings ever; let's hope Harry can jazz up some enthusiasm for the flailing show!
