Top 40 Showdown: The Biggest Underdogs and Surges
The Top 40 of 2013 poll to determine the Best Video of the Year has been filled with both dead heats and lopsided contests. Surprisingly, some of music's most popular artists still have a ways to go to win the round and move on to Round 2.
While ties abound (Rihanna's "Stay" vs. Demi Lovato's "Heart Attack," Justin Bieber's "Beauty and a Beat" vs. One Direction's "Best Song Ever"), some fans need to step up their game. Lady Gaga's "Applause" is getting trounced by Katy Perry's "Roar," with Mother Monster only garnering 21% of the vote so far.
Similarly, Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines," the undisputed Song of the Summer, has only received 37% of the vote against Jay Z and Justin Timberlake's "Suit and Tie."
Finally, sultry R&B crooner Miguel made many Best-Of lists last year, but "How Many Drinks?" only has 27% vs. Drake's New Wave hit "Hold On, We're Going Home."
Round 1 of the poll wraps up tonight at 6PM ET. You know what to do.
