Chris Brown Releasing 5 New Songs, Delaying 'X' Album Until 2014
UPDATE (2/23): Chris Brown has set a (final?) release date for X and rejoined Instagram as well. In the meantime, you can listen to his X Files EP, featuring new five songs plus a bonus track, right here.
Despite telling the Breakfast Club radio crew his new album was "definitely" dropping this November (and then moving it to December 3), Chris Brown has once again pushed back the release of his sixth record, X. But to keep fans hungry, Breezy is dropping a five-song mixtape entitled X Files on Tuesday, November 19. And yes, it's free.
Although Brown's decision to postpone X is understandable given the circumstances—he just spent 16 days in rehab for anger management therapy—it's still shocking how many times this album has been pushed back. As of now, X has no release date at all—all we know is that that double-disc album will drop sometime in 2014, despite being slated for a July 16, 2013 release at one point.
Hey, fun idea alert: X should come out on the one-year anniversary of its original release date.
