Jared Leto Makes More Money From 30 Seconds to Mars Than Movies

Who says you can't make money from music nowadays?

Despite being an Academy Award winner, Jared Leto has revealed he makes more money fronting 30 Seconds to Mars than he does as a Hollywood actor. The double threat gave some insight into his two occupations while talking to Billboard about his role as the Joker in the upcoming supervillain flick Suicide Squad.

"I've never made money from films," he told the mag. "It's a challenge to make money from music these days—that's one of the reasons I've been really entrepreneurial."

Leto also gave insight to why he chose to play Batman's arch nemesis: "The opportunity to take on this nearly Shakespearean character—that's what graphic novels and comic books are becoming, right?" he said. "This beautiful disaster of a character—what a big challenge."

Suicide Squad doesn't hit theaters until next year. In the meantime, 30STM already have an extensive Russian tour lined up for March. The act has yet to sign with a new label after ending their contract with Virgin Records last year, making the next couple of months very exciting for Jared and friends.
