Good news American Harry Potter fans: the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play is officially traveling across the pond! It will open on Broadway's Lyric Theatre on April 22, 2018, so get your coins ready.
Details about the preview performances for the two-part play, as well as casting, have not yet been revealed but will announced in the next few months. Cursed Child's descent into Broadway comes at an interesting time, as it will be up against the Frozen musical, which would also open around spring 2018. Prior to the movie, Lyric Theatre hosted Cirque du Soleil's Paramour show and planned to restructure their entire venue to make room for the Potter crew.
Tickets will go on sale this fal through the official Harry Potter The Play website. Back in March, Cursed Child made history with a record-breaking 11 Olivier Award nominations for an original production. The script book also broke records last August, selling more than 2 million copies in North America in its first two days alone. The play, which follows Harry, Hermione and Ron as adults and parents of young wizards, was previously stationed in London's West End.
