At this point in time, meeting 5 Seconds of Summer is harder than it has ever been. They're fresh off an arena tour with the biggest boy band in the world (One Direction, obviously) and they're gearing up for Derp Con, a fan convention where they will play the biggest headlining shows of their career. They're demolishing our Top 40 music videos of 2014 poll and they've recently released the delightfully rebellious "Good Girls" vid. Don't forget their hilarious parody song skit on Fallon! Basically, they're on the rise, and super stardom is right around the corner. What does that mean for mega fans who never got to shake their hands or take a selfie before they broke?
Ellen DeGeneres has a solution! On her program Thursday afternoon, Ellen, who loves to make dreams come, invited a handful of fans to come to her studio before taping. 5 Seconds of Summer stood in an elevator with sliding doors before a group of girls. Each set of fans, two or three at once, would get five seconds with the band, and it was up to them to make the best use of their time.
As you can imagine, there was a lot of screaming. The band and the girls talked over each other. Each time the doors opened to reveal the boys, they'd do something different, screaming in response to the girls, standing coldly, shaking their hands and at one point, even pulling their pants down.
