It's official: One Direction are perhaps the only boy band in history who can hop onstage with a rock legend and deliver a performance that makes it seem like they were meant to be singing alongside a guitar god all along.
Over the weekend on the series finale of X Factor UK, 1D took to the stage for a bombastic rendition of "Where Do Broken Hearts Go," yet another track from FOUR that channels the grand, power ballad leanings of '80s rock and pop. It would've been enough for the show's alums to show up and belt it out, but nope! They kicked things up to an epic notch by surprising the crowd with Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones, who sidled up alongside the boys with his serious soloing chops.
It's a surprisingly natural pairing, the rock veteran and the young pop stars, and it leads to some truly heartwarming moments. (Harry Styles doesn't get on his knees for an air guitar solo for just anyone, y'know.) The 1D guys seemed absolutely overjoyed to be belting out their hit in such exceptional company, and if Ronnie's shimmies and quick-steppin' count for anything, it shows he had a great time as well.
Watch the clip above, and get ready for Saturday Night Live's upcoming holiday episode as 1D will be hitting Studio 8H with Amy Adams this weekend.
