Ariana Grande Conquers EDM With Zedd on "Break Free"

First it was '90s R&B on "The Way" and "Baby I," then funk-pop on her summer smash "Problem" and now Ariana Grande is stepping into the EDM world...to equally favorable results.

With the help of "Clarity" producer Zedd, the Mariah Carey disciple brings her belts to a synth-soaked, beatdrop-heavy banger. Listen til the very end for a zippy breakdown you'd be crazy not to rock out to. The spacey dance tune sounds a bit like something you could expect from the German-Russian's producer's Clarity album—which, given its GRAMMY-winning title track, is far from a bad look for Ms. Grande.

Over the industrial chorus, Ari sings "This is the part when I break free / 'Cause I can't resist it no more"—possibly referring to her apprehension towards dance music. She told Billboard in April, "I never thought I'd do an EDM song, but that was an eye-opening experience, and now all I want to do is dance."

"Break Free" is the second single from the singer/actress' sophomore album, My Everything. The set follows her debut, No. 1 LP Yours Truly and was recently revealed to feature ultra-hip guests like The WeekndBig SeanA$AP Ferg, Cashmere Cat and more. Read more about the album right here.
