Nirvana's 'In Utero' Reissue Will Feature 70 Bonus Tracks, Live Show
While not everyone knows that Nirvana did, in fact, break up after the 1994 death of frontman Kurt Cobain, fans continue to clamor for any bootleg, rarity, live performance or outtake from the most important band of the 1990s. (Sorry, Spin Doctors.)
For the 20th anniversary of the band's third, and final, album In Utero, Universal announced that it will reissue the band's swan song on September 24 with more than 70 rare and unreleased demos and b-sides, including a complete live performance from the band's "Live and Loud" MTV show on December 17, 1993.
Not that Nirvana has ever really gone away, but the band is experiencing a bit of a renaissance in recent months. Last year, the band's remaining members teamed up with Paul McCartney for the 12-12-12 Concert for Sandy Relief, leading to one of the best Saturday Night Live performances in years. Jay Z, for his part, used lyrics for "Smells Like Teen Spirit" for Magna Carta....Holy Grail opener "Holy Grail". The less said about that, the better.
Let's see if any picks from our Best Nirvana Rarities playlist make the cut.
